The Evangelical Virtual Seminary is a gift to Christ's church from Dr. Rodger W. Dalman. Dr. Dalman was raised as a pastor's son in the Reformed Church in America. In 1970, he finished a B.A. in Literature at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA. Between 1970 and 1990, he studied at Westminster Theological Seminary (Chestnut Hill, PA), Biblical Theological Seminary (Hatfield, PA), and Concordia Theological Seminary (St. Louis, MO). During these years, he finished a M.Div., a S.T.M. in Old Testament, and a Th.D. in Exegesis with an Old Testament Emphasis. Dr. Dalman taught teenagers with autism for seven years. For five years, he taught Sociology and Anthropology as an adjunct professor at Northwestern College in Roseville, MN. Between 1996 and 2009, he also served part time as the main Old Testament professor for Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary of Newburgh, IN. Dr. Dalman read a variety of papers at regional and annual meetings of both the Evangelical Theological Society and the Society of Biblical Literature. He had articles published in both Bible&Spade and the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society. Dr. Dalman's work was known for being highly innovative, and it stressed the relationship between the developing biblical text and the cultural environment of the ancient Near East. He was in some ways a voice crying in the wilderness for a historically based biblical exegesis. Dr. Dalman is not currently employed in the field.
